When Star Pubs asked us to create "something fun", we jumped at the opportunity to deliver a tool that would inspire consumers and boost brand awareness in a fresh and interactive way.

Following the success of the Star Takeover campaign, which saw 3 celebs run their own pubs, Star Pubs wanted to continue building momentum and deepen engagement with audiences curious about running a pub. They wanted a fresh way to spark interest and reach new potential licensees in a format that felt modern, fun, and inherently shareable.

After exploring various engagement formats, we landed on Dream Pub Studio, an interactive browser-based game that allows users to design their dream pub. Drawing inspiration from life-simulation games like The Sims, we built an intuitive design experience that can be shared across socials.

From idea to identity

The look and feel started with classic games' simple, playful, isometric grids. That choice wasn't just stylistic; it gave us a clean, consistent system to build everything from environments to UI.

We built the Dream Pub Studio logo to sit inside that world, not on top of it. Its 3D typographic form became the anchor point, with characters, objects and scenes forming naturally around it.

Identity and gameplay fed each other. Assets created for the game became parts of the brand, and brand elements shaped how the game evolved. No wasted effort, no parallel tracks. Just one integrated creative ecosystem.

A subtle star motif and a light blue palette nod back to Star Pubs. The aim was to build something fun and self-contained, but not disposable. An experience that returns brand value, not just a quick hit.

The same system carried through into motion and social, giving us a set of lively assets that extended the world without reinventing it every time.

Sometimes the best creative work comes from the simplest briefs. By focusing on creating something genuinely enjoyable rather than overly promotional, we delivered a digital experience that people actively wanted to engage with and share, turning game players into brand ambassadors through the power of play.
