Umbraco Roadmap
Umbraco doesn’t stand still. Neither should your platform.
How Umbraco releases work
Umbraco product releases are on a fixed, predictable cadence. Minor updates every six weeks. Patch releases as soon as fixes are ready. Major versions – twice a year.
Every fourth major version is designated Long-Term Support (LTS), aligned with the LTS release of the underlying .NET framework. That means a new LTS every two years; a stable, supported anchor point your organisation can plan around with confidence.
Know where it’s heading. Plan accordingly.

Umbraco 17: the next LTS
Umbraco 17 is the next long-term supported release. For organisations on Umbraco 13 (the previous LTS) it's the natural destination. But the distance between the two is significant.
The architectural and framework changes since Umbraco 13 are substantial. This isn't a routine version bump. It's a deliberate evolution of the platform, and it deserves a deliberate approach.
Rain can help you plan your upgrade
Umbraco 13 support runs until the end of 2026. That sounds comfortable. The longer you leave it, the less time you have to plan properly. A well-structured upgrade keeps your team in control, your content intact, and your platform performing. A last-minute migration under deadline pressure rarely does. If you're on any version from Umbraco 8 to Umbraco 13 the question isn't whether to upgrade. It's when, and how.
